Dear all,
A quick overview of the latest in Antarctica:
The EWR race is now almost over, the last teams are expected to arrive at South Pole tomorrow and a plan is scheduled to pick up 12 people and fly them back to Novo the 29th. Then the support crew and TV crew that is still at South Pole will start they‘re drive back to Novo hopefully arriving in 5-6 days. I was part of the support crew that was sent early back to Novo to setup camp for all the people that was coming back, we arrived mid day the 25th after just under 4 days of „constant drive“. One airplane with the teams that arrived first has already arrived and with EWR wanted to keep out separated camp there is some work to keep the funtemental things going/working.
The race was more difficult than most expected, one team was evacuated with an airplane after one team member was seriously ill and two teams got moved forward 150km and nearly 200km to be able to arrive at South Pole in time. The Norwegian team, however impressed all, they finished the 745km walk in just over 15days, including 24 hours mantory stop, beeting the record by two days. The Urban TV crew is very happy with the what they have and see good opportunity to sell this world wide.
The BBC program has also been successfull and will be interesting to see how this will be presented in BBC TV.
When I get more time I will make a better overview of the status.
